Daylighting as an important element

Every project potentially has the opportunity to take advantage of wonderful sunlight and/or acoustics. Whether it is adjusting the project to let more light in for passive daylighting or controlling light at different times, blocking external sound, controlling sound for better music or recording we use current design tools to examine sound and daylight in the projects.

Brooklyn Heights Duplex:

Orchestrations of Changing Use with Light ‘Moments’

In this project an open space with a central fireplace and storage becomes sub dividable into a variety of spaces with the use of built in sliding panels. Existing windows are incorporated to give unique moments in the space and to accentuate the lighting coming into the apartment. Custom electric lighting is added to work with daylight and by itself, creating a series of adjusting light qualities depending on time and use of the space.
